Safaricom and Huawei have received the ‘Most Innovative Service’ award by AfricaCom at Cape Town South Africa for the ‘Fuliza’ service.

Huawei and Safaricom were recognized to have the most innovative service in mobile money transfer.

According to Huawei, the ‘Fuliza’ service is empowered by the Huawei Mobile Money Finance Overdraft platform.

The platform enables M-Pesa users to complete transactions using overdraft money.

According to a statement by Huawei, Kenyans transacted over Sh6.2 billion in Fuliza’s first month after its launch in January 2019.

While receiving the award, Safaricom acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael Joseph expressed excitement over Safaricom’s partnership with Huawei.

“Fuliza enriches our mobile financial services portfolio further fulfilling our promise to always provide our customers with relevant products and services that meet them at their point of need. We are glad to partner with Huawei in bringing this commitment to life,” said Michael Joseph.
