Saboti MP Amisi urges mourners to suspend visits to Raila’s Bondo home

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has urged mourners to halt Opoda Farm and Kang’o ka Jaramogi visits in paying homage to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

The legislator has argued that Raila Odinga’s widow, Ida Odinga and her immediate family deserve a breather after laying the late Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader to rest on Sunday, October 19, 2025.

Since Raila Odinga’s burial, members of the public and political leaders have been streaming to his Bondo home, taking pictures at his graveside while consoling the family of the departed.

However, MP Caleb Amisi has stated that there is an extent to which a human being can go, urging mourners to suspend visits to the home of Raila Odinga and resume trips next year, 2027.

Give Ida time to rest

”There is just so much a human being can handle. Perhaps it is about time Leaders give Mama IDA and her family peace to take some rest. Baba’s Mausoleum is not going anywhere. We can visit from next year,” Caleb Amisi took to X on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Caleb Amisi’s view comes at the moment when lawyer Willis Otieno has called out hypocrisy in government officials streaming to Opoda Farm to console the family of the late former Prime Minister.

However, as leaders both in government and opposition continue to stand with the Odinga family during this period of grief, Willis Otieno has called out state officials who tormented Raila Odinga during his days on earth, fighting for the rights of the less privileged and pushing for various government reforms, transparency in the electoral system, among others.

Calling out tomentors

”Now the same people who ordered the teargas and funded the bullets pretend to be his friends, singing freedom songs they never believed in. Hypocrisy on steroids! Raila was not fighting ghosts; he was fighting them, their theft, their lies, and their rotten system,” Otieno took to X on Monday, November 10, 2025.

The late Raila Odinga was more often subjected to excessive force and police brutality, characterised by live bullet shootings and the use of teargas against his supporters whenever they gathered to deliberate and fight injustice within the government.

In his sentiments, Willis Otieno has argued that the current heavy military machinery was purchased to silence Raila Odinga and his supporters, with people behind the procurement now mourning his death.
