Ruto warns State officers against disobeying court orders

Public officers disobeying court orders will be held individually liable for their actions, Deputy president William Ruto has stated.
Sending a stern warning to State officers disregarding orders issued by courts, Ruto said everyone had a duty to respect the rule of law, which he said governs the country.
He said court orders should be obeyed regardless of the position one holds in the government.
“This country is built on firm foundation of the rule of law and as such, every citizen, including all public officers, must respect it…those disobeying will carry their own cross,” he said.
The Deputy President was seemingly referring to the latest incidences where police officers at Kilimani Police Station refused to release Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria allegedly on orders from above despite orders from courts.
Ruto was speaking at Olerai in Narok West during the official opening and dedication of Bethel AGC church.
On the much-publicised countrywide tours to popularise the building bridges initiative report, the DP asked those behind it not to misuse public funds at the expense of it to suit their self interests.
He told the proponents that they were free to regroup and plan for 2022 but should not misuse public funds.
