"I am happy we have reached this point and that we met with your MPs recently. We have agreed on the issue of electricity, which was stuck before, and now we have a new plan. We have new contractors and we have Ksh1.2 billion for Meru, and we will increase it to Ksh2.2 billion so that we can provide electricity to the people of Meru who don't have it yet," he said in his address.

President Ruto urged MPs to speed up the budget approval process to enable the government to deliver for the people of Meru.

He added that the government also plans to address the pending road projects in the region.

William Ruto on first year

He highlighted that his first year in office focused on stabilizing the economy, enhancing agricultural activities, and improving education.

He concluded by stating that this year, the focus would also be on fixing electricity, water, and roads.

"I am telling these honourable members to pass the budget quickly because these citizens want electricity. We have agreed that the stalled roads will be taken care of, and we have planned for it this year," he added.

"Last year was about stabilizing the economy, enhancing agricultural activities, and improving education. This year is about fixing electricity, water, and roads, and it is in the plan. Don’t we agree that the focus is bottom-up? So should I push for it, or should I leave it?"
