PHOTOS: Ruto tours Congo President Sassou Nguesso’s private farm

President William Ruto on Sunday, July 9, toured a private farm owned by the Republic of Congo President Sassou Nguesso as he winds up his two-day tour of the country.
President Ruto and his Kenyan delegation had an opportunity of touring the expansive farm in Oyo, where the Congo Head of State is using the latest farming trends and technologies to boost production of poultry and dairy products.
President Ruto, who was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Salim Mvurya also visited a meat processing plant located within the farm.
Ruto said increased access to the latest trends in farming will help improve food security back home.
“Value addition and access to the latest farming trends and technologies will increase yields, expand farmer incomes, and move us closer to food security.
“Improved agricultural productivity and value addition are pillars of the Bottom Up Economic Transformative Agenda. They will remake our agriculture, steady food supply and create more raw materials for industry,” President Ruto, who runs a multi-million poultry project at his private farm in Uasin Gishu County, said in a statement.
President Ruto arrived in the Republic of Congo on Friday after attending the Independence Day celebrations in Comoros on Thursday.
Speaking during a joint session of the Congolese Parliament in Brazzaville, President Ruto asked African leaders and Parliaments to champion the continent’s development agenda.
He asked the leaders to implement policies and legislations that will unlock Africa’s potential and create opportunities for its people.
He noted that Africa has the resources and opportunities necessary to drive a clean, just, and inclusive prosperity not just in the continent but across the world.
The President called for rollout of an aggressive development agenda and elimination of visa and trade barriers in order to stimulate free trade.
“It is the right time to engage Africa’s leaders for the purpose of mobilising a firm African position on issues that are directly connected with our collective aspirations,” he said.
