Ruto to appoint more women, says Chidzuga
President William Ruto is working on strategies to give women more leadership positions as part of empowerment and fulfillment of the two-thirds gender rule.
Speaking in her office yesterday, Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga (pictured) said the President has been appointing women across the country to various key Government positions and making them powerful.
“We all heard last week in Embu during the International Women’s Day where the President appointed 16 women to be ambassadors in various countries. This was a good gesture for us,” Chidzuga said.
Chidzuga further noted that compared to the former government, Kenya Kwanza administration has given more positions to women, something women should not take that for granted. She urged those holding powerful positions to empower other women.
“I am one of the women who have been appointed in a Government position by the President. I will assist in empowering my colleagues in different programmes that will improve their livelihood,” she continued.
Chidzuga noted that the Head of State gives more support to women that is why there is a good number of women in the Cabinet and Principal Secretaries positions.
