President William Ruto yesterday told off Azimio-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga over his remarks that the Judiciary should ignore dialogue following weeks of war of words with the Executive.

President Ruto who made an extensive tour of Trans Nzoia county said the Opposition leader was not sincere in his remarks.

“Si nilikubali kuongea na yeye?. ( I held talks with him). Mbona hataki niongee na watu wengine?. (Why is he uncomfortable with me talking with other people?). Kwani Kenya ni yake peke yake? (does this country belong to him alone?) Awache hiyo mchezo bwana,” said the head of state.

“Those who are opposed to any conversation amongst any Kenyan institutions so that we can sort out challenges that face development in our country are the ones who have been recruited by the cartels and saboteurs so that they can continue to take advantage of the people of Kenya and we want to tell them shame on you,” added President Ruto.

He went on: “Nataka kuwahakikishia wakora na matapeli kuwa mambo yao ni matatu: wahame Kenya, ama tuwapeleke jela ama waende mbinguni” (I want to tell all conmen and fraudsters that they have three options: they move out of Kenya, we take them to court or they go to heaven)”.

Comprising Judiciary

On Tuesday, Raila while addressing ODM supporters at Sossa Cottages in Vihiga county during the launch of mass registration of ODM members, said talks between the CJ and President Ruto would amount to compromising the Judiciary.

Raila argued that there is no need for Koome to call for dialogue between the Judiciary and the Executive saying the body is independent and should not be frustrated in any way.

He said if President Ruto is not satisfied with court rulings, he has a right to appeal without compromising the Judiciary.

Raila said the judiciary was the last hope for suffering Kenyans after the National Assembly and the executive have already been compromised by the President.

“There is no need for CJ Koome calling for dialogue with President William Ruto. The Judiciary is independent. Calling dialogue with President Ruto is the beginning of compromising our judiciary,” warned Raila.

“Our MPs have been hijacked by the president. They approve policies that are not friendly to Kenyans. The executive has also been compromised. The Judiciary was the only remaining hope for Kenyans,” he added. Raila warned that Kenya is likely to slip back to the dark days where dictatorship was the order of the day.

The President who has been harsh critic of the Judiciary in the recent past yesterday that he was ready for dialogue with the Judiciary on condition that corrupt Judicial officers are removed out of office.
