President William Ruto on Sunday, October 6, 2024, led Kenyans in mourning the passing on of Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s mother, Lay Canon Rhoda Namaemba.

Taking to his official social media accounts, President Ruto described Governor Lusaka’s mother as a hardworking, God-fearing, and focused woman.

“Our condolences to Governor Ken Lusaka for the loss of his beloved mother, Lay Canon Rhoda Namaemba. Mama Rhoda was hardworking, God-fearing, and focused. We celebrate the great life that she led and the many memories that she leaves behind. May it be a comfort to the family and the people of Bungoma that we are praying for them at this sad time. Rest in Peace, Mama Rhoda,” President Ruto stated.

Wetang’ula’s condolence message

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has also mourned Mama Rhoda as a remarkable woman whose dedication to discipline, education, and faith has left a lasting impact on many.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to my friend, Governor Lusaka, and the entire family on the passing of his mother, Mayi Rhoda Namuemba Lusaka. She was a remarkable woman whose dedication to discipline, education, and faith has left a lasting impact on many. May her legacy continue to inspire us all.

“On behalf of the National Assembly, the Ford Kenya Party, and my family, we send our thoughts and prayers to the Lusaka family during this difficult time. May Mayi Rhoda rest in eternal peace,” Wetang’ula wrote on his X.

Kimilili Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa has also mourned Governor Lusaka’s mother as an extraordinary woman who profoundly impacted the lives of many with her warmth and wisdom.

“It is with great sorrow that I learned of the passing of Kukhu Rodah Lusaka, the mother of Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka. I extend my deepest condolences during this challenging time. Kukhu Rodah was an extraordinary woman who profoundly impacted the lives of many with her warmth and wisdom.

“May the family derive solace and fortitude from the treasured memories they shared with her. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate through this period of mourning,” Barasa stated.

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has also extended his message of condolences to the family of Governor Lusaka.

“My heartfelt condolences to Governor Ken Lusaka following the loss of your dear mum, Mayi Rhoda Namaemba Lusaka. Our thoughts, prayers, and God’s grace are with your family during this grieving moment. Rest in Peace, Mayi Rhoda,” Wamboka stated.

Lusaka announces mother’s death

Governor Lusaka announced the passing of his mother on Sunday, October 6, 20-24.

Lusaka, in a statement shared via his official social media accounts, stated that his late mother had been an icon and greatest pillar in their family since the passing of their father in 1995.

“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing on of my mother, lay canon Rhoda Namaemba Lusaka, this morning. My mum has been an icon and a great pillar in the family since the passing on of our dad way back in 1995.

“She has kept her faith, and remained strong in the ACK church. We remember her for her great role as an educator and a strong synod member in the ACK church. Amidst all this sadness, we appreciate and celebrate her life. I will give more details in due course,” Lusaka announced.
