Ruto makes fresh diplomatic nominations
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, February 6, 2026President William Ruto has instituted additional diplomatic postings in the foreign service by instituting changes in the National Foreign Service.
In the new changes, President Ruto has nominated Kosiom Frank Ole Kibelekenya as the new ambassador of Kenya to the Kingdom of Denmark.
Confirming the nomination on Friday, February 6, 2026, the Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service, Felix Koskei, said that these are fresh appointments where no sitting envoys were in place.

The nomination marks Kenya’s first full ambassadorial posting to Denmark. The nomination has now been sent to the National Assembly for vetting and approval.
Deputy ambassadors
The President also announced a series of deputy ambassador appointments to strengthen existing missions in various countries in a bid to strengthen Kenya’s foreign relations.
In the new appointments for deputy ambassadors, Elias Bare Shill has been named Deputy Ambassador to Mogadishu in Somalia While Ambassador Dr Joseph Warui has been redeployed to Moscow, Russia, also as a deputy envoy.
The two will serve under Ambassador Kubai Iringo, who has represented Kenya in Somalia since early 2024.
In Tanzania, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Nur has been appointed Deputy Ambassador in Dar es Salaam. He will deputise Ambassador Isaac Njenga.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the latest nominations bring Kenya’s diplomatic footprint to 72 countries worldwide. Officials say the move reflects a growing focus on trade, security cooperation and political engagement across Europe, Africa and Eurasia.
As required by law, the ambassadorial nomination to Denmark will only take effect after parliamentary approval. This nomination indicates Kenya’s growing commitment to strengthening diplomatic relationships with foreign countries to help in fostering the growth of the country.
These appointments add to the list of nominations President Ruto has made since his tenure in 2022, including High Commissioners, Ambassadors, and Permanent Representatives.
Recently, President William Ruto has nominated Ida Betty Odinga, the wife of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, as Kenya’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
