Ruto forced to defend himself after Kenyans call him out for commissioning Nyandarua road twice

President William Ruto has come out to clarify the launch of the Captain- Ndemi-Wanjohi-Kwa Matu-Geta-Kahuruko-Ndunyu Njeru road after a section of Kenyans called him out for launching the road twice.
Ruto came under sharp criticism after hawk-eyed citizens across social media platforms attacked him for commissioning the road which was already launched five years ago.
“Earlier launched the tarmacking of the 55km captain- Ndemi-Wanjohi-Kwa Matu-Geta-Kahuruko-Ndunyu Njeru and addressed wananchi at the Ndunyu Njeru trading centre at Ol Kalou town,” Ruto’s Thursday, April 6, 2023 tweet read.

But in his rejoinder today, Ruto through State House spokesperson Hussein Mohammed claimed that he had begun the project during his era as Deputy President but was forced to delay the project after he was ‘denied’ funding by the government following his fallout with his then boss former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He claimed that the government deliberately denied him funding to frustrate his bid for the presidency.
“During last year’s election campaigns, President Ruto promised to complete all stalled projects, including roads. During the ‘Handshake’ (2018-2022), many projects he launched were deliberately denied funding even though they were in the government’s programme. This was to frustrate the then Deputy President and his bid for the presidency.” he stated.
He further assured Kenyans that his administration would ensure that all the stalled projects in the country are complete before embarking on new projects.
“Today, it’s evident that the architects of these schemes that they thought would frustrate President Ruto, ultimately hurt the people, the economy and Kenya. But the President is and will clean up the mess. He promised to complete all stalled projects before embarking on new ones. This is the President fulfilling his pledges,” the statement added.
