Ruto challenges Ruku and Cheptumo to serve with professionalism and integrity

President William Ruto has challenged the newly sworn-in Cabinet Secretaries to bring their skills and expertise to the fore while serving Kenyans in their new capacities.
Speaking during the swearing ceremony of Hanna Cheptumo and Geoffrey Ruku at State House on Thursday, April 17, 2025, the president promised to lead the journey towards transforming the country.
Ruto expressed optimism about their capacity to execute the task ahead.
“I want to welcome our new team members into this grand program of taking Kenya to the next level. I will be leading from the front because I have made a conscious decision about the difficult decision the nation has always wanted to make but has not made because of political expediency. I will make those decisions and pay the price if there is any,” Ruto promised.
“I’m confident that the team that I have carefully selected and that has been approved by parliament is going to serve with the integrity that is expected of you, professionalism that will give results, and cohesion that will make our team succeed as one.”

“On behalf of the people of Kenya, I invite you to bring your education, experience, insight, knowledge, and patriotism to making the government more responsive, effective, and transformative,” Ruto told the CSs.
The president further implored the CSs to embrace a collaborative working relationship with other ministries.
“While you will serve in different ministries, you are all part of a coordinated government working together to deliver results to the people of Kenya. Our approach will be unified and collaborative and focused on outcomes to ensure that the government works more effectively,” he added.

The Head of State further dismissed the critics of his administration, emphasizing their commitment to the work of transforming the nation.
“We are going to change this nation. It is what is required of us. We must stay focused. There are so many noises, but we must keep our eyes on the ball and not be distracted,” he said.
Ruto concluded by urging the new cabinet entrants to shelve their personal interests, regional, gender, and cultural distinctions, and serve Kenyans according to the oath of office taken.
