President William Ruto has dismissed the united opposition, terming them as planless.

The Head of State has said the opposition outfit have reverted to spreading politics of hatred and tribalism is their trademark.

Speaking during the Nyota fund disbursement programme in Kilifi County on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Ruto has called out the members of the opposition for tainting him as a liar, insisting that he is committed to changing the country a step at a time because he is committed to taking the country forward.

“Wengine walikuwa wanasema huyu Ruto anasema uongo. Mko hapa leo ama hamko? Hii pia ni uongo? Sijui kama tunaelewana bana. So mimi nataka niwaeleze kwa sababu kuna watu hawana maono, mpango wala sera. Ni vitimbi, chuki, ukabila na ubaguzi; hiyo ndio trademark yao. Lakini Kenya hii kwa mapenzi ya mwenyezi mungu, Insha Allah, Kenya hii tunaibadilisha kwa mapenzi ya mungu,” Ruto remarked.

Loosely translated as “Some were saying that Ruto is a liar. Are you here today or not? Is this a lie, too? I don’t know whether you can understand me. So, I want to tell you because there are people without a vision, a plan, and an agenda. They have comedy, hatred, tribalism and discrimination as their trademark. We are going to change Kenya by the will of God.”

President William Ruto is in the coastal region for the launch of the Nyota programme and has reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza administration’s commitment to youth empowerment through the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Programme, saying the initiative is now reaching between 70 and 80 young people in every ward across the country.

Opposition accuses Ruto of lies

The critics of the Ruto administration, however, have been accusing him of making empty promises, describing his commitments as political gimmicks rather than actionable development plans.

Members of the United Opposition, led by the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, have been accusing William Ruto of delivering promises that are never fulfilled. They have been opposed to the developments of the Kenya Kwanza administration, terming them as not viable.
