Rugby Super Series teams revealed

Ahead of this year’s Rugby Super Series, scheduled from May 4 to May 25, 2024, the Organizing Committee has finalized the composition of the men’s franchises.

The Buffaloes, based in Kakamega, will feature Kabras Sugar, Kisumu, Catholic Monks, Masinde Muliro, and Western Bulls.

Meanwhile, the Nakuru-based Cheetahs will comprise Menengai Oilers, Nakuru, Homeboyz, Impala, Kabarak University, and University of Eldoret.

The Lions franchise will include KCB, Kenyatta University Blak Blad, Mwamba, JKUAT Cougars, South Coast Pirates, and USIU Maritals.

The Rhinos, hailing from Nairobi, will draw players from Kenya Harlequin, Nondescripts, Strathmore Leos, Daystar Falcons, Mean Machine, and Mombasa.

The tournament, set to take place over four Saturdays, will see matches rotating between Nairobi, Nakuru, and Kakamega.

It will feature four men’s and two women’s teams, with the men’s teams representing Kenya Cup Clubs: Buffaloes, Cheetahs, Lions, and Rhinos.

Women’s teams will be part of the National Lionesses’ squad, competing under the banners of Eagles & Jaguars.

The men’s format will involve each team facing off against the others over the first three match days, with the top two teams progressing to the final.

Women’s matches, held in Kakamega and Nairobi, will determine winners based on aggregate scores over two games.
