Rigathi Gachagua sworn in as Kenya’s Deputy President

Deputy President-Elect Rigathi Gachagua has been sworn in as Kenya’s second Deputy President.

Gachagua who was previously a legislator was sworn into office moments after his boss William Ruto took his oath of office.

The ceremony was held at the Kasarani stadium on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi before Kenya’s Chief Justice Martha Koome, in line with the provisions of the constitution.

The event was witnessed by President Kenyatta and at least 20 heads of state across Africa.
