Retired chief charged with defiling 17- -year old girl
By KNA, January 19, 2023A retired senior chief has been arraigned in an Eldoret court for allegedly defiling a 17-year-old girl.
The former Kimumu location chief William Sang (pictured)who is also a former General Service Unit (GSU) officer was charged that on December 12, 2022, he defiled the girl from Kaptagat village in Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The former administrator who appeared before Eldoret senior resident magistrate Christine Menya was granted a bond of Sh 200,000 with surety of a similar amount.
Indecent act
The Prosecution report indicates that the former chief who owns several rental plots in Eldoret town lured the young girl into having sex.
He is also faced an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with the girl where he is alleged to have touched the minor’s private parts.
The suspect denied all the charges.
He was arrested by irate members of the public after they subjected him to mob justice. This was after he was allegedly caught in the act following a tip-off from villagers.
The case will be mentioned on February 6, 2023.
