Lecturers and staff working at universities have a duty to efficiently serve students to facilitate smooth learning and quality installation ofcritical skills of problem solving, the value of hard work, the importance of peace and harmony, and effective communication, among other skills.

Zetech University Vice Chancellor Prof. Njenga Munene maintained that staff working at higher learning institutions can make or break careers depending on their behaviours and delivery methods.

Speaking during the launch of the university’s Service Charter document, Munene maintained that quality service provision is intentional, not coincidental and that all staff should conform with the laid down policies to offer quality to all students.

In the launched document the university states that all Government-Sponsored Students admitted to the University shall be issued with an admission letter and admission requirements within one (1) day similar to the self-Sponsored Students

“All teaching shall be conducted fully, on time and as per the curriculum coverage
which is done per semester. Cats and Assignments are conducted as per the proper University guidelines and results are given on a semester basis,” a section of the new charter reads.

As thousands of companies and institutions continue to celebrate customer service week, Munene reiterated the importance of quality customer service to students as they are key to future social-economic development of a given society.

“As a university, we are committed to offering the best to our students and this starts from the services given by both our teaching and non-teaching staff. As we celebrate customer service week, our commitment is quality delivery of useful education to all our students,” he said.

Among companies and organizations celebrating the world over customer service week are leading financial, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, retailing, hospitality, communications, nonprofit, and educational organizations, as well as government agencies, and others.
