Weatherman lists areas set to receive rainfall in 5-day forecast

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a five-day weather forecast starting from Saturday, September 28, 2024, to Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

In the weather advisory, the weatherman predicted rainfall in some areas while others are expected to remain dry for the next five days.

“Rainfall is expected over some parts of the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley. The rest of the country is likely to remain generally dry,” the Kenya Met general outlook read in part.

Rainfall

According to the forecast, rainfall is expected, especially in the afternoon in the Highlands west of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.

The counties within this jurisdiction include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.

Maximum temperature is expected to hit 32 degrees Celsius, while the lowest will be 9.

Nairobi

Nairobi is among the counties falling in the Highlands East of the Rift Valley region.

Other counties include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka.

According to the weatherman, there will be chances of rainfall in the above-listed counties, especially in the afternoon. Mornings will be characterised by cloudy weather before breaking into sunny intervals.

In Nairobi and other counties within the Highlands East of the Rift Valley region, residents are expected to experience extreme cold conditions, with the weatherman predicting minimum temperatures to hit 5 degrees Celsius.

Sunny intervals

According to the weatherman, the coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale will not receive rainfall in the next five days.

Almost similar weather conditions will be experienced in the south-eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties).

In the north-eastern (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo Counties), sunny conditions are expected for the next five days, with rainfall only expected on Monday, September 30, 2024.
