‘Raila took support by Luhyas for granted’ – Mudavadi
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi now claims that the Luhya community has fully gravitated away from the camp of ODM Leader Raila Odinga.
Mudavadi, who accused Odinga of taking the Mulembe nation for a ride, stated that the opposition chief has lost the support he has enjoyed in the Western region for the past four presidential elections.
Speaking during an interview with TV47, the Prime CS said that the region is now ready to embark on a new political trajectory.
“The ground has already started changing very rapidly. We, as politicians, must also start to respect the people who vote for us and support us. If we have been voting for you and giving you support, It is because we were convicted to give you support at that time. Don’t take that support for granted, and don’t think that support is static.”
“We must wake up to the reality that demographics change; economic interests have taken a very different direction in the country. If you think we will go into politics with the same traditional agenda, then you are wrong. I can tell you for free the Mulembe nation ground has changed. Voters want to move on from Raila Odinga,” he said.
Mudavadi said he was proud of his decision to dump One Kenya Alliance to join President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza coalition.
He claims he would still be proud of his audacious move even if they lost the elections to Raila.
“I was happy I had made the decision. Whether we had won or lost, I still would have been happy. The decision, if it comes out it gave the victory, is very good. Still, you can have the right decision and still miss the victory. But here we had the right decision and the victory,” he said.
