Raila Odinga’s remains lands in Bondo’s Opoda farm ahead of Sunday burial
The remains of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga have arrived at his rural home in Bondo, Siaya Constituency, ahead of his burial on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
The body descended at the expansive Opoda farm 20 minutes after 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2025, aboard a military chopper, amid wailing from crowds gathered on the sides to catch a glimpse of what was the deceased’s final farewell journey.

Siaya Senator, Oburu Odinga, and Raila’s widow, Ida Odinga, who had earlier made her way to the farm amid tight security, were seen preparing to receive the body alongside a delegation of government officials led by Interior CS Raymond Omolo.
Earlier, the chopper had left Kisumu Momboleo grounds on a sombre note as huge crowds engulfed with grief waved their final farewell to the politician.
The body was flown to the Jomo Kenyatta grounds for a public viewing that started at 8:00 am.
Raila’s burial is scheduled to take place on Sunday at his farm.
The foregoing comes as the nation continues to mourn their departed hero.\

Raila Odinga’s daughter, Winnie Odinga, while conveying her heartfelt gratitude for the continued support from Kenyans on Saturday, hailed the gesture from Kenyans towards her father.
In a message on her facebook page on Saturday, October 18, 2025, monets before Raila body left Kisumu, Winnie reacted to the massive number that turned out in Kisumu Mamboleo grounds to pay homage to his father.
She equally acknowledged thousands who showed solidarity with the family from beyond Kenya’s frontiers.
“To the thousands of Kenyans who have stood with us, who have come to pay their respects, who are mourning with us across the nation and the world, we see you,” she said.
Winnie termed the massive outporuring of emotions as an expression of the people love for her father which has imparted strenght on them.
“We feel your love. Thank you for honouring him. Thank you for respecting him even in his death.Your strength is giving us strength… JOWI!!,” she said.
