Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday hosted the Ambassador of the Republic of Algeria to Kenya Mahi Boumediene at his Karen residence.
In a statement, the opposition chief said the meeting was centred on the fact their fathers were the generation that fought colonialism and the independence of the two states.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader and African Union Commission (AUC) candidate also shared that they discussed ways to transform the continent through transformative infrastructure such as the Transcontinental railways, TransAfrica highways, African open skies, and making River Nile navigable from the Mediterranean Sea.
Raila also said they had agreed on the need to leave Africa’s painful past behind.
“The discussion this morning centred on the fact that our fathers were the generation that fought colonialism and gave us the independence of our individual states. What can our generation claim to have done for the continent?” Raila said.
“We agreed on the need to leave Africa’s painful past behind, and move the continent forward through trade and transformative infrastructure including Transcontinental railways, TransAfrica highways, African open skies, and making River Nile navigable from the Mediterranean sea.”
