Orange Democratic Party (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Friday landed in Kisumu for his weekend-long tour in the lake region. On Thursday, Raila said the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) talks would resume shortly.
After several months of absence, the party chief was received by Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o.
“I am happy to be back but because of the Covid-19, I may not meet and greet the people,” Said Raila shortly after landing.
In Kisumu, Raila said the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) meetings shall resume soon after a ‘short break’.
Raila praised Kisumu and congratulated the county boss Anyang Nyong’o for making the city clean.
“I met the Health Minister two days ago and he told me that he has never seen such a clean city as Kisumu. He has been to several parts of the country but he was impressed by what he saw here in Kisumu,” he said.
In the region, the former Prime Minister is expected to tour Siaya county for a funeral near his Bondo’s backyard.
The ODM Chief was last seen in the region in February, before coronavirus pandemic disrupted the BBI campaign, and before he was hospitalised in Dubai.
Lately, Raila has been lobbying for development projects from the National Government to his Nyanza region among them the Kisumu Port and the rehabilitation of the old railway from Nakuru to Kisumu.
