First Lady hosts Muslim women for Iftar dinner at State House

First Lady Rachel Ruto on Saturday, April 15 hosted dozens of Muslim women for Iftar dinner at State House, Nairobi.

The First Lady said Muslim women played an important role during the fasting period as the backbone of their families and communities.

“The holy month of Ramadan is a time to find inspiration in the faith and one of the most beautiful and intensely spiritual times of the year.

“This evening, First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto hosted Muslim women at State House in Nairobi for Iftar, the fast-breaking evening meal during Ramadan,” Office of the First Lady said in a statement.

First Lady celebrates women

Rachel celebrated the role of women as a critical pillar in the family, and even during this month, women are at the centre of breaking fast and hosting Iftar, which brings families together.

“The First Lady mentioned that women have a critical role in preserving the sanctity of family and are protectors, and as mothers they fight for family, especially during modern times when family and children are under attack.

“The First Lady further urged the ladies to be a living example of their faith and to be agents of social change in their families and communities,” the statement added.
