Public Service Commission announces 12-month paid internship for graduates
By Lutta Njomo, July 28, 2026The Public Service Commission has announced a 12-month internship programme targeting fresh graduates.
In a notice published in the MyGov Tuesday, July 28, 2026, edition, the Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) will allow graduates to gain relevant experience and skills to bolster their employment prospects.
The 1-month programme is also aimed at equipping graduates with relevant know-how to prepare them for the entrepreneurial journey.
“The Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) is a Government youth empowerment programme whose main objective is to offer college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills in order to enhance their chances for employment, networking and entrepreneurship,” the notice reads in part.
“The Public Service Commission (PSC) is pleased to announce recruitment of interns (Cohort 9) under the PSIP for the Financial Year 2026/2027. The year-long internship programme will mainly involve attachment in Ministries, Departments, State Agencies/Corporations and Public Universities,” it adds.
Interested and qualified graduates are requested to make their applications through the Commission’s job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke by August 17, 2026.
Stipend
According to the Public Service Commission, the interns will be paid a stipend at a rate as determined by the government. The notice did not immediately disclose the expected remuneration range.
Requirements for Internship
According to the Public Service Commission, the applicants must meet specific requirements for consideration, including:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university.
- Have graduated not earlier than the year 2020.
- Be proficient in computer skills.
- Have not benefited from a similar programme.
Internship duties and responsibilities
Once posted to various ministries and state departments, the interns will be expected to:
i. Complete duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by the supervisors.
ii. Document relevant skills acquired in their areas of deployment.
iii. Actively participate in any relevant mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the programme.
Certificate
On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate.
As part of broader efforts to create more employment opportunities, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) also advertised over 50,000 jobs. The vacancies included 20,000 permanent and pensionable positions for post-primary teachers to serve in Junior Schools and 34,016 promotion opportunities across various teaching and administrative grades.
While advising qualified candidates to apply, TSC further warned them against falling into fraud schemes.
