Principal Secretary for the State Department for Livestock Development, Jonathan Mueke, has weighed in on President William Ruto’s developmental record of the Ukambani region, describing it as an unprecedented phenomenon.

In a statement on his X page on Saturday, November 15, after the president concluded his four-day tour of the region, Mueke stated that the region was experiencing its first meaningful projects since the country gained its independence.

Never seen before

“What a way to conclude the President’s development tour of the Ukambani region, a remarkable four-day journey that ended with a truly transformative leaders’ meeting attended by over 10,000 leaders from Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui Counties,” he said.

The scale and impact of the development being delivered to the Kamba nation is unprecedented; progress of this magnitude has never been seen before,” he posited.

The former Nairobi deputy governor also lauded Ruto for portraying leadership as the head of state.

Leadership

“The President has delivered on his promise, showcasing leadership at its finest. The people of Kitui and the entire Lower Eastern region extend their heartfelt appreciation to the President,” he added.

Mueke’s remarks come after the regional leaders and government-allied politicians continue to heap praise on the Kenya Kwanza government.

Meanwhile, Ruto’s recent tour has also elicited huge backlash following his perceived disrespectful utterances directed at a section of the opposition leaders.

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, Machakos Senator Agnes Kavindu led a delegation of leaders in condemning the president over what they termed as slighting remarks at the regional leaders of Ukambani.

Speaking alongside Makueni Speaker Douglas Mbilu on Saturday, November 15, 2025, the politicians warned Ruto that he would be met with an equal barrage of insults if he persisted in disrespecting other leaders by hurling insults at them.

Kavindu fires back at Ruto

Their remarks come after Ruto faulted the opposition politicians as lacking an agenda and the brains to lead the country.

“Mr. Ruto, if you are truly the president, please respect other leaders. If you don’t respect our leaders, we will also show you the same disrespect. You cannot stand on a podium and use it to hurl insults at other leaders,” she charged.

Kavindu further called to question Ruto’s claims of being a Christian, adding that his utterances were a stark contrast to his assertions.

“It is hard to believe that you are the Christian who professes to worship God. Which God is that you claim to worship?” She added.
