Private schools from the Coast region yet again posted good grades to beat public schools in the latest Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results released on Monday by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed from Mombasa topped the Coast region with 9 plain As with Abdallah Issa Timamy, son of Lamu governor Issa Timamy among the top achievers after scoring a plain A of 83 points.
Abdallah, 18, aspires to study law at the university, following in his father’s footsteps.

“I want to thank the government for the new grading system, it has really boosted our performance, I didn’t expect these results because I had a challenge in languages but thank God that I am finally ready to study law like my father,” said Abdallah.

Speaking at the school doing celebrations, Abdalla told journalists that the support from teachers and parents propelled him to score good grades. He also expressed joy with the school grading system.

Top performers

Other top performers in Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed School is Yassir Abdulhafidh Mohamed and Abeid Azhar who scored A plain.

“We are happy as a school that the governor trusted our school and brought his son here to study, this sends a message that we have good schools, we have quality teachers and that is why we are trusted,” said Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Secondary School senior school principal Rishad Ramadhan.

He attributed the improved performance to the good teacher-student relationship.

“We expected the results, we attribute it to hard work by teachers and a student, belief and prayers, our target was to get a 9.5 mean grade,” said Ramadhan.
