Principal dies after attack at school house

Rangeyo Girls Secondary School Principal in Nyamira County yesterday died at a private hospital in Kisii County where she was rushed to after unknown people attacked and seriously injured her in her residence within the school compound.

The late Lydia Onyoni died while undergoing treatment at Oasis Hospital where she had been rushed by her colleagues and family members.

Confirming the incident, Nyamira county commander James Kimani said the deceased who stays alone in residence was found lying unconscious under her bed by the school watchman.

Addressing journalists in his office, Kimani said the watchman who normally prepares her breakfast became suspicious after she took too long to wake up as per norm.

“He went and knocked her bedroom door and heard her groaning from inside. He then ran out and informed teachers who came and found her unconscious .The door to her bedroom was not closed, according to the watchman,” Kimani said.

The police boss said that his officers were already on the ground investigating the matter. The body was moved the to the Kisii County Referral  Hospital mortuary .

Kimani said that they were also waiting for the medical report to ascertain the cause of the death. Leaders from the county led by governor Amos Nyaribo condemned the incident and asked the police to move with speed and bring the killers to book.v
