President Uhuru lauds Kalonzo for standing down for Raila
By Mathew.Ndungu, March 12, 2022Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has shelved his ambitions to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta and will now support ODM leader Raila Odinga’s bid.
President Kenyatta announced the new political move at KICC where he announced Odinga as the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate.
The Head of State lauded Musyoka for his selflessness saying that although he, alongside others have the capacity to lead Kenya, he stood down for Odinga who has higher chances of beating Deputy President William Ruto.
“I want to insist that among all these leaders, none of them doesn’t have the capacity to become President, they all do and most of them have abandoned their ambitions for the greater good and unity of the country and more so Kalonzo Musyoka who has withdrawn his ambitions,” the President said urging delegates to accord him a standing ovation, adding, “We thank him and we congratulate him,” he added.
President Kenyatta said that all the delegates of various parties in attendance at KICC had unanimously agreed that Raila Amollo Odinga will be the 5th president of Kenya.
“He has the ability and the willingness and God will enable him to see Kenya move forward while united, to fight corruption and to continue being a respected country across the world,” he said.
“I’m sure that once he takes over, he will not leave his brothers and sisters behind,” the president added.
He expressed hope that once Odinga takes over from him, he will bring on board other leaders to build a better nation.
“We have no doubt that we have a team leader in the name of Raila Amollo Odinga and we have agreed that we will sit down with others to agree who will join him in the next government,” he stated.
