Posta enters partnership deal with Tanzania

The Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) has tapped the Tanzania Postal Corporation (TPC) in a cross-border business deal to enhance service delivery.
The partnership offers will ensure faster and efficient delivery of postal and courier services, with the ability to track and trace between the two East African countries. It will also onboard private sector players to facilitate delivery of postal and courier services on land and air, in a bid to improve import and export clearing processes.
“The most exciting part of this collaboration is the impact it will have on the small and micro enterprises which are active in cross-border business. They stand to benefit from the developments that offer friendly and seamless services through the Postal Network,” said Esther Koimett, the Principal Secretary, State department of Broadcasting and Telecommunication.
Private sector
During the launch at Namanga border witnessed by the Postmaster General Dan Kagwe, Tanzania’s Minister for Information, Communication and Technology Nape Nnauye and PCK board chair Peter Kanaiya, PCK said it is currently benchmarking with TPC’s virtual Post Office.
According to Koimett, both Postal Administrations are improving the Isebania-Migori, Taveta, Loitoktok and Lunga-Lunga physical points, a collaboration expected to positively impact and facilitate cross border business for small businesses through seamless services.

Speaking after chairing the first board meeting of Vision 2030 Secretariat the newly appointed Chairperson Carole Kariuki (pictured, right) said the government is setting the foundation for private sectors to come in and invest towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals goals. “The board is aligning with the government’s move to grow the economy, I will be bringing the experience acquired in the private sector,” she said.
The Vision 2030 is the long-term development blueprint which seeks to guide the transformation of Kenya into a middle-income country. It seeks to create a globally competitive nation with a high quality of life by 2030.
