Fresh details have emerged following the mysterious murder of a middle-aged woman whose body was found in a cave in Kimunyu village in Gatundu South, Kiambu County.

A post-mortem report has shown that Beth Muthoni Watuku, 44, (pictured) was hit with a blunt object on the head, rupturing her brain.

She also lost four teeth and sustained fractures on her ribs.

“As a result of my examination, I formed the opinion that the cause of death was craniocervical injuries due to blunt force trauma consistent with a fall from a height,” the autopsy report conducted at Kenyatta University Teaching Research and Referral Hospital (KUTRRH) mortuary read.

In what contradicts earlier reports that she may have committed suicide, the autopsy report signalled that the woman may have been killed and her body squeezed between the rocks.

She also had broken teeth, a broken arm and a fractured skull.

A police report had earlier indicated that the body had visible physical injuries; a broken jaw, fractured left hand and cracked skull.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that she slid and fell on the said cliff which is 20 feet deep. The body was retrieved and moved to KUTRRH mortuary awaiting autopsy,” a police report seen by People Daily read.

Muthoni left her home in Karembu on January 16, 2025, for a prayer session but never returned.

Her phone would later go off, leaving her family puzzled. They would later fill a missing person report at Kimunyu police post under OB Number 05/17/01/2025.

A day later, Muthoni’s dismembered body was found dumped inside the deep caves and her personal valuables were missing.

Her father Anthony Wataku told journalists that his daughter was murdered after being stupefied.

“My hardworking daughter did not kill herself or slip and fall; she was murdered. The postmortem report is clear that she was hit with a blunt object. My plea to the government is to conduct thorough investigations to bring her killers to book,” stated Wataku.

He said he did not know the reasons behind her death.

Elizabeth Maina, a resident, called on the government to address the plight of women as most of them are living in fear of being killed.

“Cases of women being tortured and killed are on the rise and there seems to be little action from the authorities,” said Maina
