Police seize Chang’aa and Kangara in Baringo operation
By Joel Masibo, September 27, 2025The National Police Service has announced the seizure of 60 litres of illicit brew in Baringo County following the latest raid.
In a statement on Saturday, September 27, 2025,NPS said police officers from Eldama Ravine Police Station in Baringo County conducted a targeted raid in Maji Mazuri Village, Koibatek, where the consignment was discovered on Friday, September 26, 2025.
”The operation targeted the homestead of a suspect, leading to the recovery of 20 litres of suspected Chang’aa and a further 40 litres of Kangara. The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken to Eldama Ravine Police Station, where he is being held pending arraignment.”

“The National Police Service reaffirms its commitment to sustaining these efforts across the country to reduce alcohol-related crime and protect communities from the harmful effects of illicit substances,” the statement read in part.

Still on the war against narcotics, police officers from Matisi Police Station in Webuye West Sub-County, Bungoma County, on Wednesday, September 23, 2025, conducted an intelligence-led operation at Khalala Village, Sitikho Location, targeting illicit brews, drugs, and unlicensed second-generation liquor.
Illicit brew seized in Bungoma
During the operation, officers arrested seven persons of interest found in possession of various quantities of illicit brews. Among the recoveries were 360 litres of Busaa, 40 litres of Kangara, and several consignments of Chang’aa totalling 55 litres. The seven were placed in custody at Matisi Police Station pending processing and arraignment.
Elsewhere, police officers in Murang’a South Sub-County foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics into Kenol Law Courts on the afternoon of Thursday, September 25, 2025.
”While conducting a routine check of the court’s holding cells, court orderlies from Kenol Police Station arrested a suspect found in possession of 71 rolls of bhang, five sachets of kuber, and 18 tablets of cosmos. The suspect was immediately escorted to Kenol Police Station and placed in custody, pending processing and arraignment in court,” NPS said.
Following the development, the National Police Service applauded the alertness of the officers involved and urged members of the public to remain vigilant.
”We encourage the public to partner with law enforcement in the fight against drugs and illicit substances by reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police station,” NPS added.
