Police nab man linked to robbery with violence incident in Kisumu
By Cynthia Lodite, April 30, 2026Police officers from Chiga Police Station in Kisumu East Sub-County have successfully apprehended a key person of interest linked to a robbery with violence incident reported in the area.
In a statement by the National Police Service on Thursday, April 30, 2026, the officers confirmed that the person of interest was traced at his home in Kamrongo Village, Chiga Sub-Location.
“Following a reliable tip-off and a swift tactical operation launched early this morning, officers from Chiga Police Station tracked down and arrested the suspect at his home in Kamrongo Village, Chiga Sub-Location,” NPS said.
During the arrest, the officers recovered a red Honda 125 motorcycle believed to have been used to escape from the scene of the robbery.
At the same time, the officers announced that the person of interest was escorted to the station and placed in custody, pending processing and arraignment in court, and that the motorcycle had been securely kept as an exhibit.
“The National Police Service commends the residents of the area for providing information that led to the successful recovery and arrest. The Service remains steadfast in its commitment to serve and protect, and encourages members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station,” NPS said.
Marsabit crackdown
The Kisumu incident closely follows a similar incident where Officers from the National Police Service in Marsabit Central Sub-County arrested a person of interest in connection with cases of stock theft and murder following an intelligence-led operation conducted in the area.
The operation was carried out on April 27, 2026, resulting in the detention of the individual who had been the subject of ongoing investigations. The arrest was confirmed through an official statement issued by the service.
According to the NPS, the operation proceeded as planned until the person of interest attempted to resist arrest by drawing a dagger concealed at the waistline. Officers managed to overpower and subdue the individual, and no injuries were reported during the incident.
“The National Police Service officers in Marsabit Central today, 27th April 2026, conducted an intelligence-led operation and successfully apprehended a high-profile suspect wanted for a series of serious crimes, including stock theft and murder,” read the NPS X post in part.
Items recovered from the scene included a dagger and a mobile phone, both of which have been secured for forensic examination. Investigators are expected to analyse the materials as part of efforts to establish possible links to other related incidents in the region.
