Officers from Special Crime Unit Detectives yesterday impounded six top of range vehicles that had allegedly been smuggled from into the country.

The officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) seized three Mercedes Benz and three Range Rover cars.

“The vehicles were confirmed to have been stolen from their countries of origin into the country for tax evasion reasons,” stated the DCI.

With intervention from Interpol, it was established that one of the Benz cars was stolen from a South African and imported to Kenya.

One of the Range Rover cars had a registration that initially belonged to a Toyota Probox vehicle.

The vehicles are currently with the National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA officials and they will be used as court exhibits for tax evasion, smuggling and other charges.
