Police arrest duo in Makadara, recover stolen vehicle
By Faith Lagat, September 19, 2025The National Police Service (NPS) has arrested two persons of interest and recovered a stolen vehicle in Makadara, Nairobi, in a move aimed at curbing motor vehicle theft.
“Police in Nairobi yesterday conducted an operation targeting motor vehicle theft in the Makadara area,” NPS said in a post dated September 19, 2025.
Officers conducted a targeted operation yesterday after a report of a missing Toyota Axio. The vehicle, fitted with false number plates, was traced to a chassis number matching a car reported stolen at Mutuya Police Station.
“They arrested one suspect and recovered a stolen Toyota Axio. The vehicle was fitted with false number plates, and its chassis number matched that of a car reported stolen at Mutuya Police Station.”
The first person of interest was apprehended at the scene and, following further questioning, provided information that led police to a second individual. Both are currently in custody and awaiting processing and arraignment.
“The suspect was placed in custody and, following further interrogation, provided information that led officers to a second suspect. The National Police Service reiterates its unwavering commitment to the fight against all forms of crime and urges members of the public to support its operations by sharing information.”

Narcotics and illicit brew in Migori
In a separate operation, police in Kuria West Sub-County, Migori County, arrested two individuals during a raid in Kehancha Town, seizing narcotics and illicit alcohol. A 46-year-old woman was found with 179 rolls of cannabis, four packets of Super Match Export cigarettes, and Ksh 21,140 in cash, believed to be proceeds from illegal trade.
A second suspect, a man, was also arrested in the same operation. Police recovered additional cannabis and a 10-litre jerrican of chang’aa, a potent locally brewed alcohol. Both were detained and await court proceedings.
The NPS commended officers for the swift actions and urged residents to report any suspicious activities at nearby police stations or via toll-free hotlines, reinforcing the collaborative role of communities in fighting crime.
Ongoing operations
These operations follow a police intervention in Homa Bay County on September 17, 2025. Officers from Ndhiwa Police Station, patrolling along Ndhiwa–Sori Road, spotted a motorcycle with a rider and two pillion passengers carrying a large luggage.
When the rider ignored orders to stop, the suspects abandoned the motorcycle and fled into a thicket, leaving behind 390 rolls of bhang worth an estimated Ksh117,000. The motorcycle was impounded, and investigations continue.
The NPS stressed that such coordinated efforts across counties demonstrate a proactive approach in tackling crime. Authorities continue to appeal to the public to share timely information, highlighting the critical role of community cooperation in maintaining safety and security.
