Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei has weighed in on the ongoing cases of abductions witnessed in the country.
In a statement shared via his official X account, Cherargei dared the law enforcement officers to reveal those involved in the abduction of the youth following IG Kanja’s recent denial of police involvement.
“Now that the @NPSOfficial_KE have confirmed that they are not aware who is abducting Kenyans then together with @DCI_Kenya should immediately tell Kenyans who is doing the abduction in the country? Unless the police are powerless against this vice of abduction!!” he said.
The senator went on to state that as a victim of state sponsored abduction, the experience is horrifying and no one deserves to go through it.
He also prayed that the missing youth are found safe and can soon be reunited with their family.
“I have been before a victim of state sponsored abduction & it is horrifying experience that no one should go through it. My heart goes out to the loved ones of the abductees during this festive season & we hope they are found safe,” he added.
“Is it coincidence that all abductees are users of safaricom line?”
Further, the senator, a staunch supporter of the Kenya Kwanza government implored Kenyans to refrain from criticizing the regime with personal attacks and insults.
“My advice to all Kenyans is that if you have to criticise government which is your right do it constructively, respectfully & decently there is no need to personalise attacks, demonise or insults don’t make a point make a difference!!!”
IG Kanja denied the claims of involvement stating that the duty of the police is to arrest, adding that those involved are committing a crime.
“Our duty is to arrest and not abduction, those who abduct are committing crime,” IG Kanja. said.
This follows mounting pressure from a section of Kenyans, families and politicians over youth who went missing after sharing images criticizing President William Ruto.
