Preparations for the enthronement of the third bishop of the Nyahururu Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Diocese are in top gear.

Pomp and colour

Consecration and enthronement of an Anglican Bishop is full of pomp and colour because it is an event that takes after a long time which is after the retirement of the incumbent bishop.

“The ceremony will start with a holy communion mass where the Bishop-elect will attend with his family and his to be official Robes will be blessed at this service,” said a senior church member who is in the committee that is preparing the ceremony program of the day.

After that Reverend Major Gachathi will be escorted in a procession led by a police band to the consecration ground. At the ground, The Electoral College that presided over the voting in April will present the Bishop elect to the Archbishop to be Consecrated Bishop.

During the consecration the Bishop elect will be escorted to the Cathedral vestry to put different robes with the last one being escorted by the Diocesan archdeacons and canons to the Vestry for complete Robing which involves putting on the cloak and the mitre.

Finally the new Bishop will sit on the official seat (Cathedra) which is the seat of Authority.
