Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, the spouse of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, says the political and economic crisis in Kenya will soon be a thing of the past.

Pastor Dorcas gave the assurance after her recent visit to Jerusalem's Western Wall, where she prayed for the country.

"It shall be well with Kenya because God is a covenant-keeping God! And so I was at the wailing wall in Jerusalem," Pastor Dorcas wrote in a Facebook post on Saturday.

She encouraged Kenyans Kenyans to pray without ceasing, saying the country will eventually emerge victorious.

"Kenya pray without ceasing for the Bible records; 1 Kings 8:28 Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O LORD my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You today," she said.

Quoting 1 Kings 8:41-45 she wrote: "Moreover, concerning a foreigner, who is not of Your people Israel, but has come from a far country for Your name’s sake (for they will hear of Your great name and Your strong hand and Your outstretched arm), when he comes and prays toward this temple, hear in heaven Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You, that all peoples of the earth may know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and that they may know that this temple which I have built is called by Your name."

"When Your people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever You send them, and when they pray to the LORD toward the city which You have chosen and the temple which I have built for Your name, then hear in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

"Thank you, Lord of the Covenant, for you hear and answer prayers. Your righteousness shall protect, safeguard, and avail our nation of victory over all challenges for the glory and honour of your Name."

The Second Lady joined other believers at the wall, popularly known as the Wailing Wall, during her trip to Israel this week.

She travelled to the "Holy Land" to learn the best practices in rehabilitating alcohol and drug addicts.

Her remarks come amid anti-government demonstrations in Kenya over the soaring cost of living.

This week the Azimio la Umoja - One Kenya coalition staged three-day protests to express their disapproval of the government's move to impose additional taxes on Kenyans through the Finance Act 2023.

The recent violent protests have left a trail of destruction of property and loss of lives.

The demonstrations will resume on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, according to the opposition.
