Parte-after-parte as remandees down chang’aa exhibit
Ordinarily, the shoe is on the other foot. It’s the police who are known to consume alcoholic exhibits confiscated from suspects leaving only little samples.
But in a rare case that has captured the country’s imagination, four daring suspects consumed concentrated chang’aa while aboard a police van!
The incident this week saw four suspects en route to Murang’a Prison drink all the chang’aa in the police van in the true spirit of parte-after-parte!
Police said David Murigi, Peter Ngugi, George Muiruri and Joseph Murimi were at the back of the van while their escorts sat at the driver’s compartment oblivious of the impromptu party at the back.
Its only after the officers reached the prison and opened the back of the van that they were shocked to find the chang’aa jerrican empty and all four suspects lying unconscious!
