Outgoing St.Paul’s VC challenge scholars to redeem country from greed.

Outgoing St. Paul’s University Vice Chancellor Prof.Joseph Galgalo has challenged scholars and church leader’s to take lead in redeeming the country from greed and selfishness.
Prof. Galgalo says that selfishness among politicians is to blame for the apparent poor development and corruption.
Galgalo who spoke at the facility’s amphitheater during his valedictory lecture said Kenya lacks servant leadership adding that most leaders are materialistic in nature with no interest of the common man.
“We are a victim of our own social and cultural set up and all we fight and live for is self aggrandisement at the expense of our people’s well being,” he said.
He said distinguished scholars in the country should join hands to redeem the country from the yokes of greed noting that service to humanity comes with sacrifices which, unfortunately lacks in most leaders.
“The way to power should come through services which liberates humanity. Power gotten for glory and selfishness leads to death and destruction,” he said.
He said it is the moral duty of lecturers in the country to inculcate ethical and moral orientations which leads to service to humanity adding that by doing so, the future generation of leaders will have liberated thinking.
The V.C said if like minded scholars and people rallies behind selfless individuals, they can easily break the chain of poor leadership in the country.
“Our leaders use people as stepping stones to ascend to power while others coin the tribal cards while stepping on their people’s backs only to neglect them once they attain power,” he observed.
He said that politics governs our lives in society and affects many aspects of our lives and hence calls for absolute devotion and commitments.
The lecture was attended by a section of university staff while learners participated virtually.
Prof.Galgalo leaves the institution after serving for 10 years as the V.C with Prof. James Mbaka set to take the reign in January 2021.
He joined the facility whose current Chancellor is Gender and Youth Cabinet Secretary Prof.Margaret Kobia, when it had 1000 learners but the number has since grown to 6700 students in various disciplines.
