Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has appealed for prayers after surviving a frightening plane incident at Wilson Airport.

Speaking during a church service at ICC Church in Narok on Sunday, March 22, 2026, Osotsi recounted the emotional aftermath of the Friday evening incident, describing it as a life-altering experience that has left him shaken and fearful of flying again.

“Hii ni jumapili yangu ya kwanza baada ya hio ajali ya Wilson Airport, na sasa ninasema Mungu ni mwema. Na sasa nataka muniombee kwa sababu nimeogopa kupanda ndege,” Osotsi said.

Concerns from Kenyans

The senator revealed that he has been receiving messages from concerned Kenyans, some jokingly saying they would avoid boarding flights if they saw him or other leaders allied to the Linda Mwananchi faction on board.

“Ile kitu imefanya niogope kupanda ndege ni kwa sababu watu wamenitumia messages wakiniambia “Osotsi wewe ukiinga kwa ndege sisi tunashuka, tukiona Orengo anaingia tunashuka, tukiona Babu Owino anaingia tunashuka, na tukiona Sifuna anaingia pia tunashuka”. Tunataka mtuombee ndio watu wakituona tukipanda ndege wasitoroke,” he said.

Despite the light-hearted tone, Osotsi admitted that the incident had instilled real fear in him, prompting his appeal for spiritual support.

According to him, a section of Kenyans is concerned that the Linda Mwananchi leaders might be a target for assassination.

“Ni kwa sababu watu wanadhani tutafanyiwa ile kitu. Si mnajua ile kitu? Na tunasema shetani ashindwe. Mungu aliona kuwa Osotsi bado ako na kazi ya kufanya hapa Kenya,” Osotsi remarked.

Wilson Airport plane incident

The Friday incident involved a flight carrying 39 passengers, alongside three crew members and a pilot. All on board survived, though the ordeal has sparked concern and reflection among those involved.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook account moments after the incident, Osotsi thanked God for protection and commended the pilot for his remarkable skill and presence of mind, noting that the pilot successfully steered the aircraft off the runway, preventing a potentially catastrophic fire.

“I thank God I am alive after a plane crash-landed at Wilson Airport. I thank God for His protection after I came out safely from an aircraft accident at Wilson Airport this evening. I was among the 39 passengers on board the flight, including three crew members and the pilot, when the plane landed,” Osotsi wrote.
