ODM sets March 27 for National Delegates Convention
By Cy Muganda, February 11, 2026The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has set March 27, 2026, as the date for its National Delegates Convention (NDC), aimed at ratifying key party decisions and charting the strategic direction ahead of the general elections.
In resolutions issued following the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Mombasa on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the party outlined that the convention will take place in Nairobi and will bring together delegates from across the country.
“The NEC resolved to convene a National Delegates Convention (NDC) in Nairobi on 27th March 2026.
Preparing for elections
The NEC said ODM will use the NDC to consolidate party cohesion, resolve internal leadership matters, and strengthen the party’s readiness for the electoral contest.
“The NDC shall, among other agenda items, deliberate on the Party’s strategic direction, ratify key decisions of the Party organs, and prepare ODM for the forthcoming General Election,” the statement read.
Leadership shake-up
The NDC comes on the heels of a major leadership shake-up, with the NEC resolving to remove Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from his position as Secretary General with immediate effect.
ODM said the move was taken in accordance with the party constitution and laws governing party discipline, citing rising indiscipline at senior leadership levels.
“Party National Executive Committee meeting in Mombasa today has resolved to relieve SG Edwin Sifuna of his responsibilities with immediate effect,” ODM stated.

“Effectively, Hon. Catherine Omanyo, who is one of the Deputy Secretary Generals, will act in this position until a substantive holder of the office is elected,” it added.
