ODM condoles with Simba Arati following sister’s death
By Lutta Njomo, August 10, 2025The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Saturday, August 9, 2025, sent a condolences message to Deputy Party Leader and Kisii Governor Simba Arati for losing his sister.
In a statement, the Orange Movement commiserated with the Kisii governor, who they indicated had lost his sister, Isabella Arati.
“We commiserate with our Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati, following the loss of his sister, Isabella Arati,” ODM’s statement read in part.
Burial
The Raila Odinga-led party further announced that Isabella Arati’s burial is scheduled for Sunday, August 10, 2025, at her Isinya farm, Kajiado County.
“Burial is scheduled for tomorrow (Sunday 10/8) at her farm in Isinya, Kajiado County, next to Entarakwet Hotel,” the party’s statement stated.
ODM did not immediately explain how and when she died but vowed to support Arati’s family during their grieving moment.
“As a party, we stand with the Arati family during this period of grief.”

Several ODM grassroots leaders visited Arati’s family on Saturday, August 9, 2025, ahead of the burial to pass their condolences.
“Today Kisii team, led by ODM Chairman Paul Momanyi Kabos visited the family of HE Simba Arati who had lost his Sister Robina, the late will be laid to rest tomorrow in Kiseriani. Pole Sana Governor,” Hezbon Mochama, a youth leader from Kisii, wrote on Facebook.
Simba Arati is yet to issue a statement on his sister’s death.
Arati became the Orange party’s deputy party leader in 2024, where he was picked alongside his Mombasa counterpart Abdulswamad Nassir and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi.
The party also retained Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as secretary general and the party spokesperson. Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga was picked to replace John Mbadi as the national chairman.
The changes were made during the Central Management Committee meeting chaired by party leader Raila Odinga at a time when he was preparing to take a stab at the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship bid.
