Here is what you need to know in order to get up to speed with today’s happenings.
MP Karauri presser on Gerishon Kirima’s land-ruling
Kasarani Member of Parliament Ronald Karauri is expected to hold a press conference at Bamao Grounds to address concerns following the court’s ruling in late Nairobi businessman Gerishon Kirima’s land.
Environment and Land Court ordered settlers of Njiru, Chokaa and Mihango in Kasarani Constituency to evacuate over 900 acres of land belonging to Kirima.
Reports indicate the estate administrators have been in protracted litigation with the residents, seeking the removal of high-rise buildings and residential neighbourhoods that they claim were built illegally.
Currently, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over more than 1,000 families as the ruling gave them until December 31, 2023, to vacate the land or face eviction and demolition of their homes.
CBD hawkers meeting
Nairobi governor Johnson Sakaja will today be attending the enforcement and CBD hawkers leadership meeting.
The meeting will be held at Charter hall in City Hall.
This comes amid calls to the county askaris to cease enduring harassment of city vendors.
NTSA road safety forum
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) will be engaging various stakeholders as it deliberates on the proposed National Road Safety Action Plan(2023-2027).
This is scheduled to take place at the Edge Convention Centre in South C, Nairobi.
The forum is set to run for two days starting Wednesday, October 25 to 26, 2023.
Ambassadorial nominees vetting
The vetting process of at least 27 ambassadorial nominees is set to kick off today.
The Departmental Committee on Defence Intelligence and Foreign Relations will hold a meeting at the County Hall Mini-Chamber to commence the process.
KARA BTS
The Kenya Alliance of Resident Association(KARA) in partnership with Hanna Seidel Foundation(HSF) will be hosting the next Bi-monthly Talk Series(BTS) forum today.
The forum will focus on Nairobi Rivers protection and restoration.
