Reactions to Gachagua’s statement

Reactions are expected on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s statement following his discharge from the Karen Hospital where he had been admitted with severe chest pains on Thursday, 17, 2024, and was unable to testify in the Senate.

In his first appearance since falling sick, Gachagua unleashed damning reports about his relationship with President William Ruto, noting that on two occasions, he survived assassination attempts.

He appealed to the head of state to spare his children and family from the anguish they were undergoing following the withdrawal of his security detail and staff.

“I want Kenyans to know that as I go home today, I have no security. If anything happens to me or my family, President Ruto must be held accountable,” Gachagua boldly said outside Karen Hospital.

Sakaja revealed that the adjacent building to the collapsed flat had also exhibited signs of compromised structural integrity and that all the occupants had been advised to vacate.

“Nairobi County Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri visited the scene of the collapsed eight-storey building in Kahawa West. All the fundis who were working on the ground floor of the eight-storey collapsed building have all been accounted for. A lady and a child have also been accounted for,” Sakaja said.
