Kiambu Governor James Nyoro has appointed Joyce Ngugi as deputy and fired two County Executives(CECs) Julius Kimemia(roads) and Joseph Ng’ang’a(Education).

Joyce Ngugi, wife of late politician Joseph Ngugi, hails from Gatundu South where she has unsuccessfully vied as an MP.

Concurrently, Nyoro fired the two CECs who are alleged to have been allied to the former governor Governor Ferdinand Waititu

The number of CECs fired in Kiambu now stands at three after the Members of County Assembly(MCAs) impeached Karungo Thang’wa.

Kiambu Township Ward Member of County Assembly Antony Ikonya expressed satisfaction over Ngugi’s appointment as the deputy governor.

“I know Joyce Ngugi and I believe she is a competent woman,” said Ikonya.

Ikonya who spoke to PD Online also added that appointment of a woman MP corresponds to Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report tha recommends different gender for the governor and the deputy’s post.
