Nyong’o vows to blacklist all contractors with bad records

By , November 22, 2022

The Kisumu county government has threatened to blacklist contractors with poor performance records.

Yesterday, Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o said that to deal with the burden of pending bills, his administration would not execute contracts with briefcase contractors.

He said they would no longer accept interim or partial payment certificates for projects below Sh5 million.

Instead, such projects would have to be completed and paid for at once.

“We have put in place measures to minimise the creation of pending bills”, he said.

The governor, during an address to the county assembly, said his government had paid Sh1.6 billion worth of pending bills in budget estimates of the current financial year.

He said they would reform revenue collection and project implementation though the new monitoring and evaluation system.
