Nyeri Deputy Governor Condemns a ‘latrine billboard’ by her boss and Konyu MCA

By , June 4, 2020

Nyeri Deputy Governor (DG)Caroline Karugu has condemned a pit latrine bill board elected by Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Konyu Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Eric Mwangi.

The DG said the bill board was a cheap publicity stunt and ill advised.

“I wish to disassociate from these persistent cheap publicity stunts and I consider them extremely unfortunate and ill-advised,” she said.

The billboard in question is erected at Konyu ward as a signpost for a Nyeri County proposed project to build a pit latrine at Kahara ECDE Centre.

The picture of the billboard was making rounds on social media on June 4 drawing massive attention.

The majority of people reacting to it asked why such a low-cost project like a pit latrine would need such a post.

People criticised the signpost to be of higher cost than the proposed project. They termed it as a mere wastage of funds.
