Reactions to Ruto’s state of the nation address

More reactions are expected to President William Ruto’s State of the Nation address following the unprecedented cancellation of the government’s partnership with the controversial Indian billionaire Gautam Adani.

Ruto instructed the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum to cancel the ongoing JKIA procurement process and the KETRACO transmission public-private partnership (PPP) deal.

“Accordingly, I now direct in furtherance of the principles enshrined in article 10 of the constitution on transparency and accountability and based on new information provided by investigative agencies and partner nations that the procuring agencies within the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum immediately cancel the ongoing procurement process for the JKIA expansion public-private partnership,” Ruto said.

Weekend sports action

The Kenya Premier League football action returns. Nairobi City Stars will play against Tusker FC from 1:00 pm. at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Posta Rangers will also play Mathare United from 4:00 pm in Machakos, while Kakamega Homeboyz will play Bandari FC at the Mumias Sports Complex from 2:00 pm The other match this Saturday will be Murang’a SEAL FC vs. Shabana FC at the Sportpesa Arena in Murang’a at 3:00 pm.

Other matches lined up for today include AC Milan vs Juventus at 8:00 pm, Manchester City vs Tottenham at 8:30 pm, Leicester vs Chelsea at 3:30 pm, Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest at 6:00 pm and Bournemouth vs Brighton also at 6:00 pm.
