Gachagua pleads with Gen Z

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua pleads with Gen Zs to call off Thursday, July 4, 2024, protests in various parts of the country.

In a humble and suppliant tone, Gachagua asked the young people to end the protests to save the country from destruction and criminal activities.

Charlene's call for dialogue

The First Daughter Charlene Ruto has called on protesting youth to embrace dialogue after weeks of demonstrations rocked the country.

Charlene states she is one of the Gen Zs and understands their frustrations but insists they have to be open to dialogue if any lasting solutions should be reached.

The Gen Zs have listed a raft of demands to the state including the scrapping of the First Lady's office which President William Ruto has committed to implement.

Public officers’ pay hike

After a public uproar, the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) gave in to pressure after it intended to increase the salaries of public and state officers pursuant to a gazette notice of 2023.
