Passport collections

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has announced measures to address the backlog in passport issuance.

Starting this Wednesday, individuals can collect their passports from various collection centres. To further streamline the process, the Department of Immigration will publish a list every Wednesday of applicants whose passports are due for collection the following week.

However, there’s a stern warning for those who fail to collect their documents within the specified timeframe. Passports not claimed within the stipulated period will be disposed of in accordance with the law, and individuals will face penalties when applying for a future passport.

Here is the breakdown of uncollected passports in various regional offices:

  • Nyayo House (Nairobi): 36,170
  • Embu Regional Office: 10,409
  • Eldoret Regional Office: 9,938
  • Kisumu Regional Office: 9,515
  • Nakuru Regional Office: 8,023
  • Kisii Regional Office: 7,971
  • Mombasa Regional Office: 5,424

President William Ruto’s US tour

President William Ruto is set to continue his visit to the United States during the ongoing United Nations General Assembly meetings. Wednesday will see the sixth and seventh plenary meetings taking place as part of the UN’s agenda.

Apart from his engagements at the United Nations, President Ruto has been participating in various meetings during his US visit, and these are expected to continue.

Moses Kuria launches County Aggregation and Industry Park in Kisii

Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, Moses Kuria, will be present at the launch of the County Aggregation and Industry Park (CAIP) in Tongeri, Kisii County. The event will also see the participation of Kisii Governor Simba Arati.

CS Moses Kuria’s visit to Kisii comes amid controversy over his comments regarding the rising cost of living in the country.

Namibia’s Anti-Corruption Commission benchmark in Kenya

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Namibia is on its second day of a benchmarking exercise in Kenya, hosted by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The ACC delegation, led by Chief Investigating Officer Oberty Inambao, commenced their visit with a tour of the Integrity Centre, where they were received by EACC’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud.

The benchmarking exercise involves an in-depth examination of the EACC’s structures, strategies, and experiences, especially in recovering stolen public property. More activities are expected to take place during this Wednesday.
