Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

In courts today

Sammy Kipngetich Kirui, a suspect charged with conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption is set to appear before a magistrate at the Milimani Anti-corruption Courts today.

The allegations relate to irregular purchase of land in Machakos at Ksh283.2 million, for cemetery use by the City Council of Nairobi.

He will appear alongside 13 others.

Scheduled power interruptions

Kenya Power has confirmed that eight counties will experience blackout today.

The counties, Nairobi, Machakos, Busia, Tana River, Mombasa, Kilifi, Meru and Kajiado will be affected by the scheduled interruptions from 8 am to 5 pm.

According to Kenya Power, the interruptions are part of system maintenance.

In Nairobi, the interruptions will affect parts of Westlands including part of General Mathenge, part of Ring Road, part of Suswa Road, Part of Mpaka Road, part of 2nd Parklands Avenue, Part of 3rd Parklands Avenue and adjacent customers.

The blackout will also affect parts of Upper Hill including; Nairobi West, Madaraka, Geomap, Kenyatta Hospital, Mbagathi Way, Ngumo, Laini Saba, Kibera and adjacent customers.

In Machakos, the blackout will affect areas such as Tala, Kangundo and Eastleigh from 9 am to 5 pm.

Tala and Knagundo areas that will be affected include; Tala Market, Nguluni, Kangundo, Kangundo Level 4 Hospital, Kivaani, Kithunthi, Mathakutha whereas Eastleigh areas will be affected include Kathemboni, Innecore, Iluvya, Kathemboni Mosque, Mwendandu and adjacent customers.

The blackout in Busia will affect areas such as Namahindi, Mungatsi, Otiris, Akobwait, Musokoto Benga, Igara, Kaludeka, Kwangamor, Ekisimo, Lupida, Koshiolai, Kapina, Katira, Elizabeth Opedur, Sierra, Kokare, Kamolo, Kiriko, Osopotoit, Opare, Akharbijan, Kidera, Kotur, Kodedema, Gara, Madende, Luanikha, Sikinga, Mudembu, Esidende, Budakanyi, Nangeni and adjacent customers.

The areas will go without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm.

In Kajiado, the blackout will affect areas such as Korompoi, Isinya Town, Kwa Milla, Prayer Center, Pipeline Road, Ramoda, Tumainiy, Diaspora, Exotic Penina, Enkasili, Saris Quarry, Ashanti, Oltoroto, Kisaju, Jamii Bora, Kajiado, Musa Primary, PJ Dave, Fred’s Ranch, Kimalat, KAG, Lucky Base, Sucos, Imara Steel, Isinya Rural, Isinya Feeds and adjacent customers from 8 am to 5 pm.

Parts of Miritini Estate, Mbuyu wa Chapa, Miritini Quest, St. Elizabeth, and Miritini Catholic are among the areas that will be affected in Mombasa County. The stated areas will go without electricity from 9 am to 5 pm.

In Kilifi, the black out will affect areas such as Medina Palms Resort, Dongo Kundu, Temple Point Resort, Garoda Resort, Captain Andy’s, Kobe Resort, Hemmingway’s Resort, KWS Temple Point, Palm Garden and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.

Meru areas that will be affected from 9 am to 5 pminclude; Urru DO’s Office, Antubeiga Primary, Miathene Market, Miathene Hospital, Karimba Primary, Ithamare Primary, St. Martin Boys, Miathene Boys Secondary, Kanjaro Girls, Kiandiu Market, Kitheo Market, Kitheru Primary, Kiathaita TBC and adjacent customers.

Tana River areas that will be affected include, Hola Town, Bura, Masalani, Mango Plant, Makutano, Mau Mau Secondary and adjacent customers from 9 am to 5 pm.
